The
concept for Sounds of Hope Project (SOHP) was born
in 2002 as a therapeutic outlet for musician Mary Lou Lydecker,
who was diagnosed with a rare auto-immune disease and virtually
housebound. The first recording, Keys to Peace was so successful
that a 2nd CD was recorded, Sounds of Hope. In order
to keep costs at a minimum and to be able to provide CDs to
those in need, the SOHP became established as a non-profit
organization in May, 2004. Its mission is to comfort, relax,
and soothe listeners through the production of inspirational
music CDs. The SOHP is a music outreach program that targets
shut-ins, those under hospice care, the hospitalized and those
in nursing homes. The SOHP also gives local musicians the
opportunity to perform and record their favorite classical
or inspirational music.
